Our Services
Word Up Speech & Language Therapy offers speech language pathology services and learning supports to kids of all ages, from Early Intervention (birth to 3 years old) to adults (the young at heart).​

Services are available in-home throughout Long Beach and surrounding areas or at our Torrance clinic serving the South Bay area (Torrance, Gardena, Hawthorne, Redondo Beach, Manhattan Beach, Lawndale, etc.). Telehealth is also available when appropriate.​​

I have several years of experience working with a wide variety of communication needs and developmental profiles, including early intervention, receptive/expressive language delays, articulation, autism, AAC (augmentative and alternative communication), gestalt language processing, social skills, executive functioning, and language-based learning support. I am a Natural Language Acquisition (NLA) trained clinician and believe that everyone communicates in their own amazing ways.

Services may also incorporate early literacy foundations, phonemic awareness, reading and listening comprehension, play-based learning, self-advocacy, communication regulation strategies, and support for participation across home, school, and community environments.

What we provide
Free Initial Consultation
Do you have concerns about your or your child's communication? Let's talk about it.
Free 15-20 minute consultations are provided to prospective clients and their families or caregivers. During the initial consultation, a phone call or video appointment will be scheduled to discuss any concerns and answer any questions. At this time, it will be determined whether a comprehensive evaluation is needed.
Evaluations
I will work with you to schedule an evaluation in your home, via telehealth, or in a clinic, based on your location. Evaluations may include a combination of the following: standardized assessments, formal and informal screening for additional concerns that may arise, observation, parent/caregiver interview, language samples, story-telling. I understand that sitting through a long assessment can be tiring, so there may be a need to split testing into two separate evaluation days. Included with the evaluation is a comprehensive report and scheduled time to discuss findings & our next steps.
Speech & Language Therapy
Length and frequency of sessions will be scheduled depending on your or your child’s specific needs. Built into every session, the final 10 minutes is devoted to parent/caregiver debrief and ongoing consultation and approximately 5 minutes for documentation to ensure we are tracking progress. Sessions will be conducted in the clinic if located in the South Bay area or in-home if located in Long Beach. Telehealth using a HIPAA compliant platform may be available depending on whether virtual sessions are deemed appropriate.
Pricing &
Insurance
At this time, Word Up Speech & Language Therapy is out of network with all insurances. While we are out-of-network, many insurance plans provide partial reimbursement for speech therapy services. Per your request, a superbill (a type of invoice outlining provided therapy services) can be provided for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Please contact your insurance provider for out-of-network coverage/benefits.
