Rea Ramos, M.S., CCC-SLP
Owner/Founder, Speech-Language Pathologist

Well, hello! Thank you for coming by and I hope we get to meet soon! My name is Rea Ramos and I am a dog-lover, a plant mama, and the owner and founder of Word Up Speech & Language Therapy.

I first started my path towards speech language pathology working in the art world at a therapeutic arts non-profit organization for adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Here, I had the chance to help adults in utilizing art as a means of expression, movement, and as a possible vocational opportunity. It was also here that I first observed the impact and importance of communication in allowing an individual to better access their environment and to fully participate in their own lives.

Since then, I have spent the majority of my work as a speech-language pathologist working in pediatric private practices/clinics where I have had the amazing opportunity to work with children as young as 18 months all the way up to young adults, each with such wonderful and distinct personalities. While working in the private practice setting, I have also enjoyed the ability to build close-knit relationships with the families that I work with. Over the years, I have supervised several clinical fellows, graduate students, speech language pathology assistants (SLPA's), and SLPA interns, which has helped me learn more about myself as a clinician and a mentor. I have also been fortunate enough to work with adults in the community day program setting, setting up functional communication systems and training staff in becoming efficient communication partners.

In my personal life, I am a dog mom of two beautifully opposite dogs - a regal soft-spoken golden retriever, Bear, and a feisty mythical creature, Annie Lennox. I am also a plant mom of way too many plants and a lover of all foods. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, camping, crafting, and spending time with my husband, family, and friends.
